The current Bees United Chairman, Brian Burgess, announced at today's Annual General Meeting that he will be standing down from the chair at Monday evening's board meeting.

Burgess, who has been chair since April 2003, said that it was time for a change, which would bring several benefits. “Nearly two years after Bees United became the majority shareholder in the Club, the board has evolved into its role as a strategic decision making body and is growing in strength.

He added: “The time is right for a new leader to bring fresh ideas and energy to leading the trust.

“I will also be standing down as a Bees United nominated director of the Brentford FC Ltd board at the AGM on 28 November. Again this will create an opportunity for the BU board to make a new nomination and inject fresh input to the Club board.

These changes will also enable me to focus with even more determination on the project to develop a new stadium at Lionel Road, which is crucial to the future of Brentford Football Club.”

The agenda for the Bees United board meeting on Monday 19 November includes the election a new chairman and two nominations for places on the Club board.
