David Merritt is set to be co-opted on to the Bees United board at its forthcoming meeting on Thursday.
Following the resignation of Allison Franklin the number of members on the Bees United board stands at twelve, which is the minimum permitted under the Society's Rules.
The board has decided, therefore, to apply its previously established policy of co-opting the unsuccessful candidate with the most votes at the last election to fill the vacancy until the next annual election and AGM in November. David Merritt will therefore be proposed for co-option on this basis.
Chairman of the Trust, Brian Burgess, said: "This will minimise the risk of the board numbers falling below twelve before the election, in which case under the Society's Rule 61 it would be unable to conduct business except to call a general meeting or to fill vacancies.
"This policy was also applied last year when Ron Cooper was co-opted to the board for a short period prior to the annual election."
