The news that the Lionel Road stadium project has entered a new phase will mean changes to the Bees United board in the New Year.

To continue delivery of this venture will require paid executive positions with the club’s stadium subsidiary company – Brentford FC (Lionel Road) Limited –  from 1st January 2008.

Both Brian Burgess and Chris Gammon will take up these paid executive positions, and in accordance with BU policy, resign from their positions on the Bees United board from that  date.

Brian, who joined the board in 2003, stepped down as Chairman of the Trust board in November.  Brian has offered to continue to attend BU Board meetings to brief the Board on Lionel Road progress.

Chris, the Society’s Secretary and Loan Note Holders representative, was elected in   November 2005.  Chris has offered to continue as Secretary in a non-voting capacity, and will therefore continue to attend BU Board Meetings.

Trust Chairman David Merritt said: “Having recently stepped down as Chair of Bees United and as Director of Brentford FC, Brian received thanks from both BU and the Football Club, and praise for the progress that has been achieved on Lionel Road. This latest news confirms the true significance of that progress.

Both Brian and Chris have put a tremendous amount of volunteer effort towards this  project, and it is great news for the Club that there is now sufficient external funding to  enable the establishment of a paid executive team.  At a personal level I am also very  pleased with the ongoing commitment Brian and Chris have offered to Bees United despite  formally stepping down from the BU Board”.

The Trust do not intend to call elections as a result of these developments.
