As all members will be aware that there was a request included in the membership renewal letter for members to offer themselves as candidates to fill three vacancies that have occurred on the Bees United Board over the last few months.

I am pleased to announce that there have been four nominations received by the closing date of 4th August. They are: – Mark Chapman, Trevor Inns, Natasha Judge and David Merritt. All have submitted 500 word election statements and confirmed their willingness to stand.

The process that now follows is that Electoral Reform Services have been instructed to run the election and drafts of the statements and a covering letter were being submitted to them early this week. Once they have produced a draft version of the election documentation for approval, and this is approved, they then prepare the final documentation and issue the ballot papers to all qualifying members (junior members cannot vote).

New members whose membership applications are received by 25 August 2006 and members who have renewed their memberships, by 25th August 2006, are eligible to vote.

I hope to get ERS to issue the voting papers during the last week of August.

In line with Supporters Direct election guidance it will be a first past the post election i.e. in this case the candidate coming fourth with the least votes will not be elected.

The voting period will be for a period of almost three weeks with a closing date of 21st September.

The result is expected to be announced on Friday 22nd September.

I would urge all those of you who have not yet joined or existing members who have not yet renewed your membership to do so before 25 August to make sure that you get your vote.
