The clocks have changed, and the evenings have officially drawn in which mean my travel habits tend to change. However, that’s not the case for matchdays as I’m lucky to live within walking distance of the Gtech. So, rain or shine, you’ll find me walking the 20 minutes to the North stand whether it’s a 12:30pm or 8pm KO as has been the case with Manchester United and Liverpool recently.
Hopefully fans will have seen the club’s Bike to Brentford initiative which launched in the spring to encourage more people to cycle to matches towards the end of the 24/25 season. This was done through a range of offers such as additional secure cycle parking, food and beverage vouchers and Dr Bike services which provided a quick ‘MOT’ for brakes, tyres and chains. Taking advantage of the good weather, the club continued with Bike to Brentford at the start of the 25/26 season for fixtures up until and including United at home. Approximately 100+ cyclists took advantage each matchday with the club estimating a tripling of bike trips as a result of the project.
Fan-led group, Sustaina-Bees, supported Bike to Brentford by hosting cycle rides from Acton, Ealing, Hounslow and Richmond on matchdays. The rides attracted groups of friends, families with children, people who cycle to games regularly and others less so. I joined one of the rides back in April to link up with fellow Bees in Acton, taking quiet roads and cycle routes via Gunnersbury Park to the Gtech. While not something I’d do every other week, I’d recommend trying for the social value and fun factor.

Before that, I last attended the Sustaina-Bees 2024 Christmas ride from Ealing Broadway to the Forest match which started with a gathering at The Sir Michael Balcon.
It was one of the best attended rides with Bees fans taking part in the cycle convey led by Father Christmas!
We attracted a lot of attention along the way and arrived in style with a warm welcome from the club.
The official Bike to Brentford scheme may not be back until Spring 2026, but why not join us for a festive ride in the lead up to Christmas? Sunday 14 December 2025 seems a good opportunity when the Bees host Leeds in the last fixture before Christmas. Further details will be confirmed closer to the time but keep an eye out on the Sustaina-Bees page on Facebookand other socials to stay in the know.
