What have Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Brentford got in common? The answer is that they’re all owned by their fans. For the next four years at least, supporters’ trust Bees United controls the majority of shares in Brentford Football Club.

As BBC TV reported in its football magazine programme “Late Kick Off” on the Sunday before last, when you take your seat in the stand at Griffin Park, you’re effectively taking a seat in the boardroom – provided you’re a member of Bees United, that is.
