Braemar Road to be named The Bees United Stand PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 08 March 2010 14:00

Bees United has taken the naming rights to the Braemar Road stand at Griffin Park, the home of Brentford Football Club.

The Supporters’ Trust, which owns a controlling shareholding in the Club, will put its name to The Bees United Stand from the start of the 2010/2011 season. Season tickets sold for next season will be for seats in The Bees United Stand, rather than in the Braemar Road stand as at present.

Bees United will have the naming rights for next season, and until the end of the 2013/2014 season. The Club can sell the naming rights to a third party after next season if a commercially-attractive offer is made by a potential sponsor.

Trust Chairman David Merritt said: “At the time when Bees United formalises its previously-announced £5 million-plus partnership with Matthew Benham, we’re delighted to have the opportunity to raise the profile of Bees United at our home ground.”

“We can now show visiting supporters and television viewers alike that Brentford FC is a fans-owned and fans-run football club, with strong links to the local community.”

“I should like to make clear,” David Merritt added, “that Bees United will only be paying for the cost of putting new signage on the main stand, which should be a modest, four-figure sum.”

Work on the stand is likely to be carried out at the end of this season, but 2010/2011 season-ticket promotions will have the new stand name in place before that time.
