John McGlashan is now installed at Griffin Park, working for Bees United, and helping out the club when necessary. There are two purposes to his appointment, one is to enable him to give more time to the various activities Bees United are finding themselves involved with, and the other is to gain experience and a greater understanding of the administration of Brentford Football Club, which in turn will assist him in his position as a director of the club. Other Bees United board members will continue to give assistance to John, but these will be on a part-time voluntary basis. John can now ensure the Society is able to respond quicker when dealing with membership applications, and will provide an easy point of contact for members. The new arrangement will also allow him to attend the many meetings concerning a new stadium which are likely to occur over the coming weeks and months. John said, "The Society Board were desperate for office space and administrative help, Brentford FC were understaffed, and Bees United business was beginning to have a serious impact on my daily life. My previous company announced they would be making a few staff redundant within days, so I did some quick calculations to see if I could afford to offer myself up for redundancy, and to survive on the kind of money Bees United were looking to pay someone. It meant a massive pay cut, but I'm convinced there are some exciting times ahead, and I know I simply wouldn't have been able to cope with the additional workload I'll be faced with over the coming months. My company accepted my resignation, and the package coupled with the proceeds from an insurance policy, has enabled me to pay off my mortgage. I'm hoping this is a win-win situation for both the Supporters' Trust and the Football Club, and I will be desperately disappointed if things don't work out!" Bees United can now be contacted on their own local rate number at Griffin Park, which is 0845 166 7222. |
