Tuesday, 15 May 2007

The Bees United nominees on the Brentford Football Club board have looked into the 2007 FA Cup Final ticket allocation from the Football Association to our club and can report the facts as summarised below.

Bees United will review the arrangements for allocating tickets for future cup finals, international matches and any other relevant matches/events and where considered appropriate make a recommendation to the football club.

For this year:

In April the FA allocated the club 18 tickets to the club. Conditions on the use of the tickets given by the FA include that they must not be used:

  1. for any promotional or commercial purpose whatsoever (including by way of example only, in any competition, auction, give-away, lottery or as a premium).
  2. They must not be transferred, lent or sold to any third party for use as part of a hospitality or travel package
  3. They must not be given to any third party who agrees to buy a good or a service in return.

The tickets were allocated in the following way:

Directors of the football club where given the opportunity to bid for up to two tickets each. Four directors each requested two tickets.

Directors who have invested money in the club were given priority. These were Greg Dyke, David Heath and John Herting (a total of 6 tickets).

The other director, Joe Bourke, was entered into a ballot for the remaining 12 tickets along with any members of club staff who requested to be entered. All staff were invited to do so by email. At the BU board meeting on 26 April the subject of a BU Director having tickets was discussed and by a majority vote the Board agreed that this was acceptable.

The ballot was drawn and witnessed by office staff that did not entered into the ballot. The following people were successful and were able to buy 2 tickets each:

Chris Barrett
Joe Bourke
Peter Gilham
John Griffin
Nick Rundell
Barry Quin

This information is published in the interests of transparency. As stated above, the BU Board will undertake a review of future policy for such events.
