Brentford Football Club's search to secure a new stadium, one that provides improved supporter amenities, community facilities and a range of commercial opportunities, has been long and, to date, unsuccessful. In November 2002 Bees United unveiled plans for a 20,000-capacity community stadium at Lionel Road a triangle of land close to Kew Bridge, just a short distance from the Club's current Griffin Park stadium. Bees United, and potential commercial partners, envisage a major development which - including Enabling Development - could add up to over £100 million and would also transform the area into a public transport hub. Progress on Lionel Road is painstaking slow, but the plans have significant political support - locally and nationally - and Bees United believe it has every reason to think it can achieve its goal. In November 2006, Brentford FC announced thay they had made a bid for the land, which is presently owned by BRB [Residuary] Ltd.
